After his final 1970 performance in Honolulu, Jimi heard that since the performance was sold out, a few people couldn’t get in. So he and Mitch Mitchell went to Thomas Square Park a block away and set up in a dried up fountain. Jimi invited a blues harmonica player to jam with them and they blew the audience away with a very loud but very intimate performance for about 30 people from just a few feet away. They covered a number of his favorites including Purple Haze and Voodoo Child Slight Return. Later, Jimi got in an airport limo to fly to Maui to film a performance for the movie, Rainbow Bridge.
